I Want To

I want to go and explore

To climb up to it
Wander in and around it
crawl up through it

And this summer
To find the top
And slide right
Down it
And land in a cool
Pool of water

But I don't think
We can cross the river
And it's quite cold
So I will get back
In the car
Shut my eyes
And dream of adventure
Today.

The Superbowl

My husband wants to know what I wrote about the Superbowl.
Nothing.
For I really don't care about the Packers or Steelers
(Although I have come a long way, or digressed,
I'm not sure, to know who is playing today).
We have five bags of chips
Started with one, but kept finding better.

He will sit
And I will be with him
Because I know, without asking,
he enjoys it so much.
And because, without asking,
He knows me well too,
We are going out to breakfast at a little cafe
This morning.

Dreams

Dreams, dreams, dreams
So mumbled, jumbled, tumbled
I can't make heads or tails
Out of them

People, places events
So mixed up, twisted

What I know and what I don't
Create another world
I cannot comprehend
Yet it is
So real
In my sleep

I lie down with my head
Swirling and twirling
Wanting it to stop
But needing to shut my eyes
And rest

To let the remnants
Tumble out of my head
Before I
Open my eyes.

Okay, I'm better now.

Our Little World

When I look out to the mountains or down through the valley or up in the sky our little world seems very, very big.  When I look out to the mountains or down through the valley or up in the sky our little world seems very, very empty.

There are almost 7 billion people on earth, about 120 people on average per square mile.  North America holds about 8% of those people, over 500 million and about 3 out of 5 of those people live in the United States.  California has almost 37 million people in it, 12% of the United States.  Sierra County has a population of just over 3 thousand, .01% of Californians and 3 people per square mile.  And our little town has about 3 hundred humans, 0.000005% of the world's population, not many.
